First let me say English is not my first language, but I simply have to write this review, so please bear with me. I love the Outlander books and read my collection many times over the past 20 years. I was so excited when they made it into a TV series and couldn't wait to see my favourite characters come to life, especially Jamie and for me, Sam initially played him perfectly. I really enjoyed Seasons 1-3, but then sadly, it went downhill from there. What really began to spoil it for me, were the horrible distracting wigs the cast wore, Sam's in particular and let's not forget the fake beard in Season 2, which made a complete caricature of this gorgeous man. His wigs developed a life of their own and went from a wild mop and bangs to silly pigtail to where, in Season 6, the ridiculous wig made Sam look more like count Dracula then the leading man JAMMF from the books. Then from the middle of Season 3 onwards it seemed like the actors lost their passion for the story and their characters and their acting became mechanical and wooden. I found some scenes actually cringeworthy for example the stable "love scene" in Season 5, to name one of many. Furthermore, I have to comment on the bad casting of some characters, Roger and Brianna in particular and the dreadful portrayal of Stephen Bonnet, to name a few. The final straw for me, as a book fan, was the glaring personality and behavioural changes of the beloved characters from the books, especially in Jamie, but also in Claire and others. To me there were far too many BIG changes from the books, which made me lose interest. I'll stick to the books.
