"Wuxia" stories (stories of people and individuals practise martial arts taking place with ancient or mythical backdrops) were famous in China in the 1980s and 1990s. Since the 2000s, "Wuxia" lost its place in C-Pop TV series. ”Word of Honor" is a return to the "Wuxia" genre with a modern twist. Whether it is a BL story aside, it is refreshing to see the resurgence of the true "Wuxia" genre. I highly recommended this TV series to viewers, Chinese or not. The storyline is adapted from the novelist Priest. The plot is well-knit and multilayered. There is not much suspension, but you share the different characters' experiences as if you live their lives because of this. I cannot wait to find out how this series would end.

I am writing this review as episode 37 ends (as on Hunan TV, not YouTube). It is a rare TV series that has a storyline that is so heartwarming and yet a realistic depiction of real life. I don't normally like Chinese TV shows, but I recommend this one. You truly share the emotional journey of the characters in the series. You cry and laugh with them. The series also has one of the best casts as well. One interesting fact the eldest brother is the youngest in real life amongst the "siblings", and the youngest sister is the eldest in real life. YouTube has this series with English subtitles, Highly recommended.
