This movie has completely blown me away on so many levels.. as a character piece, a social commentary about how we treat the most vulnerable in society and in how it treats the source material with such respect and yet interprets and twists it, this is a masterclass in cinema in so many ways. There are so many layers to this movie it will leave film and comic book lovers pondering and dissecting it for years to come. Whatever the last two decades of popcorn, box office superhero porn we’ve loved and lapped up has thought you, leave at the door. This is about real cinema and story telling rooted more firmly in Greek tragedy with shades of Scorsese and Tarantino. As for the acting, well everything you’ve heard about the Oscar nominations is true. There is no way this doesn’t win.
