Battle scenes were a visual feast but much was left out (the slaughter of several torpedo bomber squadrons) which short
changed the sacrifices made by many so a few planes could eventually score hits (the dive bombers)
I was glad to see the scenes of the Doolittle Raid but again, it was rushed. An entire and inspiring movie could be made about these Mitchell bomber pilots attacking Tokyo to raise the morale of America after Pearl Harbor.
I think it would help to watch both Midway movies back to back for better context. Still, I enjoyed the 2019 film despite its trying to cram too much into two hours
