A TALE OF OUR TIME, Zoon Garden is a magnificent dive into the current state of politics in both America and the world. O'Donnel portrays the dangers of radical polarization especially when the name of the game is identity politics.
Zoon Garden tells an allegorical tale through an animal society that out of the blue finds itself in complete control over their society and structure. Due to the wealth of species within the zoo, the animals one day go through the "plague of realization", a day in which they all practically realize how un-compatible they all naturally are, and thus diverge into two groups lead by the sheep and the wolves. Tensions inevitably arise and here is where Jordan's brilliance comes into play as he depicts a society that falls into an Ideological war and back into tribalism. Another important aspect very much worth noting is O'Donnel's inclusion of characters and species that symbolize the media and it's destructive nature when it comes to defending ideology as well as how easily manipulated it can be.
Zoon Garden is an excellent read for anybody looking to understand or perhaps put into words the current socio-political climate that is going on in The United States of America, but most importantly it will prompt readers to self reflect on their own emotions considering opposing thought.
