Doom Eternal is trying to hard to be something it's not, it's trying to be old Doom 1 and 2 with updated visuals. Try as it might, it actually falls short of that and falls way short of its predecessor Doom (2016), it looks worse, has less graphical options in general (like the ability to switch between API's like Vulkan or OpenGL), overall the visual fidelity looks like comparing a saturday morning cartoon to the 3D effects in a a AAA movie. They dumbed down the weight of Doom slayer in such a way that it feels completely made up and arcade-y. Items that looked like they belonged in the universe existed in Doom 2016 have now been replaced with overblown brightness of items that look like they came out of a Lego set for kids. The character models have also seen a significant downgrade, they are less "beefy", less detailed and just overall less gory. They have also destroyed the melee of Doom slayer (at least in the beginning hours it seems that way). They have turned all enemies into bullet sponges like all developers are doing these days and this is just one more thing Bethesda most likely stepped in, thought they knew what they were doing and effed up because they have no idea. Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 don't even feel like they're part of the same universe and it's very sad to me as a massive fan of Doom and most recently Doom 2016.
