It's everything Gene Rodenberry did NOT want Star Trek to be. Star Trek was meant to be allegorical, broaching philosophical topics of existentialism, metaphysics, ontology, phenomenology, etc. He did NOT want 'Star Wars', he wanted 'Star Trek'. He wanted his audiences to be left thinking with interesting and clever plots. This TV series is typically about fighting and war and killing, etc. Sadly unoriginal.
