I read Dune first when I was 12 and have read all the Dune series since 1965. The last film attempt was an insult. This film is a triumph. Not least because Villneuve resisted trying to film the book in one episode. His film is visually stunning and faithful to the tone and underlying philosophy of the books. The Bene Geserit and the vital role of spice in inter-space navigation is too briefly covered but let’s hope more is revealed in episode two. So far, so great!!
