Took my family tonight. It was a good film- but not as good as everyone seems to think on the reviews. Yes it was very different from the first film and seemed like the director was trying to mirror real life by making it about Chadwick Bosman - and not the Marvel character of the Black Panther. We go to movies to escape reality not immerse in our own separate versions of reality. I think this is where Marvel is losing-the latest phase caters to more political issues of our day, or making sure people can “ see themselves in the show”( what?????) instead of just focusing on good entertainment. This latest pause doesn’t come close to the success of the Infinity Saga.
First off- I think the way they explained the death of T challa was weak. Illness? I mean I known Chadwick died of of cancer- but I wish they had black Panther dying in a fight with Namor somehow mentioned in the beginning.
Also - Shuri is a good character - but the actress doesn’t have the same charisma as Chadwick Bozeman.
There are many times when good actors have passed and they recast them. I wish they would’ve found another Black Panther actor with similar characteristics like Bozeman - but that is just my personal view
