Trying to make start trek into an serious drama doesn't work. It's a family show, so the language and content has to reflect the audience that surely would be watching. Is not Star Trek: TNG. Nor do I want it to be. It has to be something different, something bold like TNG was in its day. However, turning it into something it's not and removing the key elements that made Picard such a loveable figure is a mistake.
Yes, Patrick Stewart as Picard once more is wonderful, and he acts everyone else off the screen. And the character develop is believable. BUT! The moment someone from Starfleet decries Picard to "F*** you," I'm outta here.
