From my musical expertise within the Music Industry, this is 100% and utterly 5-star. A true artist in the making.
This album is both very artistically and intelligently written/produced. An album which literally defines the Nu-Metal genre as it crosses between Heavy-Metal and Sunshine-Pop.
Most the songs throughout are full of well-done transitions clearly indicating and mirroring her current transition in her music career, crossing over from the Pop industry into the more Metal leaning Industry, Nu-Metal to be precise.
This is probably one of the most exciting albums I've ever come across, as I never lost interest nor got bored listening. Poppy's sound not only provides different-to-usual keys/chords, but also unexpected shifts in tempo, rhythm and (sometimes) key; making it exciting as I hear something new each time I listen.
It's not "a mess" like I've seen some people comment, it all comes together, tells a story and makes sense. As it's different from her older stuff, this might challenge her old listeners, maybe even new ones (as experimental cross-over music tends to do that), but I believe this is only the beginning of what more is to come from this promising artist.
