Visual stunning, great over the top performances, great action. Historically inaccurate and very euro biased. All the fans who like this film hail its message of fighting for justice, making men out of boys, etc, etc.
I wonder if these same fans would be equally as fawning if it was told from a Persian perspective. If the film portrayed the Persians as the minority heroes and the Spartans as the stereotypical, majority villians.
"Oh its only a film, its not meant to be accurate", yet it still conveys a bias that excites those of a European extraction to the point of inspiration.
Even the way they portrayed the Spartans and Persians. The Spartans all look like home-erotic muscular clones and the Persians everyone else, the "others".
Well in fact it just shows how inclusive the Persians are and how exclusive the Spartans are.
Still I loved the movie as a movie and nothing else.
