This movie has one targeted audience in my opinion. I would sympathize with anyone going through such hardship but the way they portraits it in the movie as though poor white boy rick is being incriminated unjustly. And when I think of how when if it was a poor black boy, it would not have harmed the same interest. In fact it would have gone with something along the line of it’s expected, he’s a danger to society, so on and so forth. With that in mind, i find it extremely difficult to sympathize with those who tried to portrayed white boy rick in a good light. As if worse have not been done to juvenile black boys who’ve committed less and have been sentenced to life. Or those who were found guilty with no presented evidence and are still serving life.

Okay, so maybe my mistake was having read the book first. When the movie came out I was so excited because the Host is by far my favorite book ever. I can’t even remember how many times I’ve read it. I know that technically the movie is not gonna follow the book step by step but cmon people. The movie was just a big no no for me. I forced myself to watch it hoping against hope that some part of the movie would actually follow the storyline of the book but at the end it was just a big disappointment. I’m so disappointed in the movie I don’t even have word to describe how I feel. All in all I’d rate this movie a 4. But maybe if you watch it first prior to reading the book, you might actually enjoy it. But if you read the book before, and you plan on watching this movie, get ready for a world of disappointment.
