This series provides elements that might be shocking and deterring to some, but to others, the deep metaphorical meanings that can be found within it may leave the viewer with a stronger connection to their own psyche. Despite the seeming disconnectedness between characters, plotlines, and underlying messages, in the end it all sums up to a bigger picture-- one that you can only discover if you watch it for yourself. Alongside the (sometimes intense) depictions of what individuals face psychologically within a paranoid society, there is astounding artistry in the visuals-- ranging from all kinds of color palettes and animation styles in order to uniquely convey different aspects of the story. The occasional juxtaposition between eccentric storytelling, universal themes, and compelling animation blurs the lines between reality and a manifestation of what the human mind is capable of, varying from episode to episode. Overall, this series is not for the faint of heart, as it does explore themes that might be shocking-- but at the same time, it paints a beautifully complex picture of who we truly are.
