I have come to expect a certain standard from Marvel which this movie simply didn't live up to. Instead it was loaded with overly emotional and melodramatic characters and excessive dialogue. I felt like I was waiting for it to "get good" for the entire film, only to be left disappointed.

Loads of CGI makes the movie feel over the top and kind of cartoonish. Awkwardly cheesy and unnecessary love interest made even worse by the terrible sound track and "wind blown hair" shots. Not to mention that strange CGI kiss scene. The battle scene soundtrack and neon lights made me feel like I was watching the underwater remake of "Tron: legacy". Random scenes that make no sense and add nothing to the movie except to make the viewer giggle at the stupidity of them. (Literally had people sitting either side of me in the theater scoffing at multiple such scenes). Why is she playing a pipe and what the f*** does that have to do with anything!? But apart from that there's plenty of great action scenes and humor from Mamoa which pretty much saves the entire movie. And it has to be said that the onscreen father-son dynamic between Mamoa and Morison is pretty fantastic.
