I really feel bad giving a low rating to a movie with Samuel L Jackson in it, but this was just so bland and boring. If this came out at almost the same time as the other origin stories (before Avengers 1), this may have been meh-okay. But releasing this after Infinity Wars? This is a party-pooper.
You'd know there is an propaganda going on when the writers include lines like protecting the borders, refugees who wants to be reunited with family, and the choice of music (e.g. Just A Girl by No Doubt). So many cringgy moments. Very lazy writing.
The action scenes were not bad, huge thanks to shaky camera and CGI. Maybe they should have consulted with the people behind Winter Soldier and Civil War.
As a long-time comic book fan, it's a disrespect to think that we don't know that Carol Danvers' call sign is "Cheeseburger", and not "Avengers". I sensed desperation in trying to connect this with End Game.
The only part of this unnecessary origin story that I was looking out for was how Nick Fury lost his eye. And it was the most disappointing moment ever.
Still looking forward to End Game, but I wouldn't mind if Captain Marvel would be scrapped from it.
