This is a beautifully written book that both breaks your heart and fills it with love. For me, the main message is that we all need to feel connected to something or someone alive. Lonely Kya adopts the birds as her family. For good reason, she is afraid to love people. But human love does overcome fear. I which there could have been a sequel.
