Sometimes, I wish live action versions of classics would simply not exist. This turned out to be(a little more than) hard to watch especially if you have recently gone through the original classic. I think overall the parts that stand out the most to me are too big to ignore. The characters have great costumes but the people portraying them along with the scenes created for them just really miss their mark in many ways. Firstly, the personalities of the characters and actors do not match up and have been changed in ways that make them lose their depth. Jet is my favorite character in this iteration but even still he misses his mark because of poor writing, poor scenes and lacking character development. The show felt more like people cosplaying an amateur, YouTube-quality set up with an above average budget with so many elements seemingly thrown together. Admittedly my expectations were not very high to begin with. I didn’t expect a 1:1 remake as I didn’t expect it to be as good as the original but I did expect it to be well thought out and at least retain some of it’s core aspects like the characters and settings. This turned out much worse than I had hoped for. My one star is for the costumes but that’s it, as a huge fan everything else fell short.
