I am not sure if the television production follows the story in the book, but I have been disappointed by the poor production,Which makes the acting seem bad.The portrayal of the European attitude to the other races seems overdone and the actions of the military also seem to make things even worse than they were.I spent two and a half years in Singapore in 1969 to 1971,and loved it.Obviously, the old colonial attitudes were a thing of the past and the local government had adapted the old systems and improved them greatly. .
