You thought Dark Souls was a punishing game? Welcome to Devil Daggers. If you have the patience and skill, it is hands down one of the most well made first person shooter/arcade/shoot em up in existence. With a minimalist style, brilliant sounds effects and unfiltered pixelated 3d graphics reminiscent of games like Quake and Doom in the 90s,
There's only one weapon, the daggers, but as you acquire gems, they become more powerful and eventually you are able to spend gems to launch powerful homing daggers. The game is so fluid you can develop your own style, and eventually leave spawners up and farm mobs for more gems to become powerful quicker. I've sunk 400+ hours into the game and can't get enough.
This is a game for a certain type of player, if you are patient and love skill based games, you will love Devil Daggers. It's easily the best 5 bucks I've spent on steam, and it is the closest thing to a "Perfect" game I've played. Everything has a purpose, and a technique to master. It is simple to learn but extremely difficult to master.
The only complaint I have is : No co-op mode, this game would be SO insane if they had a 2 player co-op option. Other than that, I can't ask for much more. However.. That being said... Make a sequel and take my money. I want more.
10/10 would sell soul again
