If you enjoy a game that is mechanically demanding, Monster Hunter is for you.
Each weapon has its own distinctive play style, and consequently many combos to execute on. Without knowledge or understanding of how those combos work, one may feel overwhelmed or underwhelmed by the controls.
The controls are not what you`d usually get in an action game. It`s slightly slower than what other games offer, but which translates into a more realistic game in which physics is involved.
Mastering and being able to apply the knowledge to utilize a weapon correctly takes time and practice. However, once understood, the satisfaction is beyond comparison.
Monster Hunter's learning curve is decently steep, and for those who enjoy incredibly being incredibly skillful in a game, this game is for you.
The fun is not in the lore, nor it is in the rewards. It is all about the mechanics of monster hunting. The battle that occurs between you and the monster, which may be influenced by the environment and cleverly you can utilize such, is what makes this game is exhilarating and fun to play.
From my personal experience, Monster Hunter is the best game I have ever played.
