It's a fantasy-laced musical, interspersed with gripping dramatic scenes so I had a hard time taking it as a serious biographical movie about Elton John. Aside from the actors suddenly breaking into song and dance after powerful scenes the movie contained a lot of graphic homosexual scenes that made me cringe and turn away. I'm sorry, but watching a close-up of grown men passionately kissing and being sexual with one another in bed repulses me. Call me what you will, but I'm not apologizing for having a healthy heterosexual orientation. I expected to see some coverage of Elton's John's gay history but I thought the movie went over the top with all the "in your face" gay action. Everything about this movie disappointed me: The fact that it was a musical, all the fantasy-magical scenes and all the close-up gay action. My wife made me stay till the end or I would have walked out after the first 15 minutes.
