Just a few scenes in, and we have the cabin boy cleaning the pirate's club with a modern toothbrush. If that's the level of care they put into this, I' won't waste my time.

Dang, this is good. The acting is first rate, the writing is excellent. I don't get why it's called a comedy, though. It has a lot of humor and smart dialogue, but it's also a strong drama about people dealing with difficult relationship problems. Plenty of people have noted things about the plot and I have no desire to spoil anything, but it follows a lot of personal growth to a satisfying conclusion. I am seldom impressed, these days, but this show works.
