I'm not impressed with this show. It's always the same scenario. They put that raggedy burlap bag over someone's head to create a heightened sense of fear, so the spirits will manifest. Then that person is expected to confront whatever is in the room and "take control" over their own emotions to speak authority over the spirit, when most have no clue or instruction on how to take authority over the unseen.
And it's always the same outcome... either one or all of the communication equipment goes out!
The poor victims are given little to no coaching, let alone very little understanding of all aspects of the supernatural. This may be one approach to "confronting" the lingering dead. In my opinion however, this is a very foolish and hazardous way of taking control of the situation. If this entity turns out to be an actual demon or a negative element, then it could be a VERY dangerous position they are putting these people through.
The two hosts are supposed to be experts in their field. However, it comes across that they lack a complete understanding of the possible pit falls of the supernatural realm. So far he has a very boring personality. And she is supposed to be a "medium" of sorts... I'm not even very convinced she displays much sensitivity to spirit at all. All of the dialogue can be anticipated (i.e. .."I think he/she is really taking control and owning their emotions over [whatever spririt]).
Long story short, if they really wanted to help these people, then they would not put them in harms way, and they would give them definitive advise/instruction on just how to move these lingering dead on. God forbid these people ever confront an actual demon! It would be a disaster!
I deleted my scheduled DVR recording... it just isn't interesting enough. "DEAD FILES" is a much more educating, as well as entertaining, program. Ghost Bait was a poorly made programming choice made by the Travel Channel.
