Look man, I liked the game.
I was practically obsessed with ark in my early years, so I've practically got the lore, mechanics, and strategies down pat when it comes to everything before Genesis. This had the potential to be such a fantastic show. The voice acting was top notch, the animation was fantastic, and the source material is wonderful.
However, that is where the praise ends.
I'll be honest, I don't give a damn about the people talking about "woke agenda" by saying race things, colonizing, lesbians, etc. I genuinely do not care. I expected at least one to be there, but I wasn't sure which. Didn't care to figure out what it would be, as long as I enjoyed the show.
But seriously... you have a comprehensive WRITTEN LORE told from the perspectives of so many different characters, which you could've easily used to tell you what was going on. Sure, some of it requires some guesswork, since there are always time gaps with different people writing in journals, but how do you mess up this bad???
As for the reviewers saying "If YoU DoN'T LiKe ThIs YoU'Re a BIgoT!!!!11!!" or things along that line, put down the keyboard. You're wasting energy typing. I don't care about that part. I just want an animated series around one of my favorite games that doesn't end up diverting from the source material.
For example. Rockwell and Helena were good friends, lovers of science. Rockwell even stated that if not for the fact that she was Australian and that he was from Great Britain, those "back home" would love to have her around due to her intelligence (if I remember correctly, the original inhabitants of Australia were essentially british criminals that eventually founded a society after being exiled, and the british didn't really like them much in the first place). Sure he's manipulative, but he's a smart man amidst a world of mostly savages. He used every tool he had, and even despite that, he was a calm, kind, scholarly gentleman.
Not like the show portrays, which just shows him as an evil bastard right from the start, far before he ever gets into contact with the main thing that starts driving him to madness.
Y'see where I'm going with this?
The lore of the show is ass backwards, none of it makes sense, and it craps in the face of everything that the actual fans like.
