THIS IS ABOUT SEASON 2!
That original buoyant and innocent essence from season 1 (which I've rewatched many times) is entirely absent in season 2. While season 1 focused on the two of them coming together, season 2 delves into a myriad of events like the eating disorder and the trip to Paris; it all seems somewhat hurried.
I was perfectly content watching it last year even though I'm not a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I must admit, I was exceedingly excited for season 2. However, from the very start, practically every new character introduced is either gay or trans - including the coaches and teachers. While this might be empowering for them, shouldn't this show be enjoyable for a wider audience?
And let's not even talk about the amount of kissing. While it's now completely acceptable, can we honestly recommend this for children? There's a scene where Nick gives Charlie a hickey during a school trip that raised my eyebrows. Furthermore, the treatment of that character, Ben, is quite remarkable. He did apologize and said to come out whenever he could; shouldn't the central theme of the season revolve around coming out?
Ultimately, if you found season 1 to be remarkable, I would advise against watching season 2.
