I thought Sophie Morgan was a brilliant presenter - a real breath of fresh air with her honesty, bravery and delighted enthusiasm. She is far, far better than scores of established 'able bodied' presenters - sorry to use that term but Sophie is such a natural on camera that the fact that she is wheelchair bound is utterly irrelevant; I am saying this because sometimes one suspects that a presenter has been hired because they tick the required disability/diversity boxes at the expense of broadcasting skills, (This does no-one any favours because viewers just turn off).
Sophie's talent is a shining beacon and I thoroughly enjoyed this programme. The people who had transformed their lives by rejecting conventional ways of living were far less 'glossy' than many of the families chosen on similar programmes. Top marks for the researchers.
My only criticism is that the 2 part series could have been extended with a more in depth examination of the contributors unusual lives.... maybe Sophie can return in the future to see how they have got on?.
This sort of first class TV illustrates why Channel 4 is a very necessary channel and its possible sale will be a tragedy. I write as a former documentary maker who now has established a pocket nature reserve.
