This movie is a perfect example of being paid for a product before itโs complete. Thereโs a reason this wasnโt released at the theaters because they would have lost money.
The first 15 minutes or so were great. After that, the storyline goes missing and itโs a cameo packed movie with no purpose. The movie had potential and Sandler missed a great opportunity to capitalize on it.
Spoiler alert: When it starts out with his wife dying from being struck by a ball and proceeds to a bunch of professional golfers driving balls at a guy with only a helmet onโฆmake it make sense. I get Sandler is known for his out of pocket humor, but the original Happy Gilmore was hilarious throughout. Moving on to the competition with the new league and having to drive over the forest, they lost the idea of golf in the movie.
Also, he won multiple gold jackets, but has no money? The plot could have been so much better and they could have kept true to playing golf.
I will continue to watch the original for ages to come. I will not watch this movie for a second time as it was a waste of 2 hours. Maybe Netflix should wait to pay for a product until they see how it performs to ensure they get quality movies.
