Wow. I am a math tutor and have seen dozens of books. This one wins as the biggest loser. Why? Why ask the student “why Gustavo was wrong when he assumed the bank account doubled in 5 years?” How do we know what Gustavo was thinking?
I told my kid to answer “because he flunked math” — seriously.
The review exercises are randomly thrown in but there is no content explaining anything in the first place.
It is written as if the authors were trying to write a novel. The wording of each problem is way too long and most kids with any reading issues will be lost. Some students are actually quite good at math but fail because of this book and to subject kids in middle school to this garbage is the very reason this country is going down when compared to basically every other country.
Bring back classical math education. Do some definitions. Present some examples. Teach!
