I bought this game for the beautiful art style and a nice game to play on a snowy day. I played through it solo, which was quite awkward trying to control both characters at the same time... I imagine it would be a lot more fun 2 player. I do appreciate that it is possible to play it 1 player as it definitely seems designed for 2... I just wish there was a way to control one character and have the other automatically follow you until the cooperative parts (for those of us w/out friends and/or a significant other!).
It had some cute moments, but also some very frustrating moments. The very last chapter probably took me an hour alone and I found it quite frustrating, and it sort of ruined the end of the experience for me. The controls can be very fiddly at times and it can be very easy to miss the very specific things the game wants/needs you to do (even with the many hints!). I got stuck at several frustrating points in the game and feel a game like this should be more relaxing than frustrating.
Overall it was ok... not great, not bad. Music was nice if you like emotional sort of orchestral and piano music mixed with ambient sounds. The music also at times acts as a hint when you do the correct thing (which is helpful). Story tugs at your heartstrings but doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it (but it doesn't really have to). Art was the highlight for me, a very beautiful looking game.
2/5 stars (as a 1 player game) for clunky controls and frustrating parts outweighing the fun relaxing parts, like sliding down a snowy hillside. Probably would get a higher score as a 2 player game. Hope this helps those "single" players out there.
