I think that this movie is genuinely incredible. The first time I watched it thought I didn't think that. No I absolutely hated it. But on a second watch through I realized that while it didn't turn out how I wanted, what in life ever does? What does this movie do but teach us to try again and again and again? And that life will always present us with a new opportunity to make things right if we just see it to make the best of it! And I am a die hard original Trollhunters fan. I was there when they were having new seasons show up on Netflix. If you give it a change, it'll surprise you.
