I wanted to say my wife and I love watching Rock the Block and the other DYI shows. Seeing all the different teams design the same areas of a house so differently. It's amazing. But, I have to say I'm very disappointed in the lack of Safety I see on this and other HGTV shows. I work in the construction field and I'm also a safety person for my company. The lack of oversight I see when it comes to working safely is just crazy. I watched the first episode Rock the Block last night and watched one of the designers standing on the top step of a 6' ladder. This is a clear safety violation that is even posted on the ladder itself. You should never stand on the top step of a ladder, for any reason. If it's not tall enough, get a bigger ladder. I see the lack of proper PPE being used as well and safety guards missing on some power tools. Millions of people watch these shows and look to these people for proper guidance when they attempt to do DYI projects. Please do a better job with showing proper safety procedures.
