I am not sure I understand the changes Netflix made. Or at least I don't understand why they did.
While I love the books and liked the mini series from the 80's this one is so poorly adapted from the books. The picnic in particular is so off, her running away from the orphanage. The farther of Diana Berry. The hired boy scenes.
Signing the family bible, Mathew calling her his daughter. Just didn't feel it was true to the story.
The actors and actresses were good, the scenery splendid.
So I gave the 1 star because of the deviations that just weren't needed. The kids in the school, in the book are completely different, in this they made the majority out to be bullies, just completely ridiculous. In the series Jane, Anne, Diana and even Ruby were friends. Josie Pye was a bit of a pill but not something so awful as what Netflix produced.
And petting the mouse! Really Netflix. That never had to be in the series.
I recommend the books, they really are quaint. L.M. Montgomery takes you to Green Gables and bring the world of Avonlea to life as you read. It is a lighthearted endearing story.
Not this poor adaptation.
