Such a great anime, if you can, go watch it. 1 thing to note: it is a bit gory, but I haven't seen organs and stuff, and I'm only on part 3. There's just a lot of blood and decapitation, like, a LOT of blood. Nothing a 13 year old can't handle (if they don't get grossed out by it), so if your child told you about the show, and they played or seen God of War games, and you were okay with it, it's just like that. There are nude scenes, or so I've heard, but that's all you gotta look out for. Honestly, I can NOT find words to even describe how good it is...
