It’s hard not to love this show. The characters, art style, dialogue, and overarching plot are all fantastically written. I would call it a feel-good show, but as I just finished the last episodes, I’m feeling more destroyed than good at the moment. The only critique I have is that the individual episode plots can sometimes meander from the overall storyline. This is especially true in the second season. On the other hand, these episodes are usually used to build and showcase the many different characters, to the point where you are basically attached to all of them. As to the critiques of the time jump, I mostly agree with you. The writers had to pack a ton of information into a small amount of dialogue, so it lacked much of the emotional and personal connection that the other episodes executed so flawlessly. That being said, the final scene of the series was pure gold. It was the only way that the series could possibly have ended well. For this reason, I mostly forgive the rest of the time-jump.
If you’ve got some time, dive in. It is so worth it. Just try to be mentally prepared for the end, it’s killer.
