I have to say, being a third world farmer is BRUTAL. Seriously, incase you’ve never played the game, whenever someone leaves the family. What it was trying to say is that me, the player, has kicked the person out of the family and onto the outside world. The reason why I do that is because they were on the verge of death. So I had to make the decision to kick them out. They were also uneducated so it’s highly unlikely that they will be able to survive out there on their own and land a good job. I had to make so much sacrifices just to be able to survive another year (each turn is about as long as a year). Though I am glad that no children has ever died in the family and all have been able to reach maturity. There was a scenario at turn 25. The member who got infected by the lethal disease was an 8 year old boy. Medicine is quite expensive. Every unit of health cost $2. Usually I don’t let morality get in the way to benefit myself, but when I found out how low the child’s health was at, I immediately restored him to half of his health. What was weird about this event was that I did it without thinking about it. Whenever I do something I put at least a little bit of thought into it. It felt as if my emotions took control of my body momentarily to save that child. Because I almost was about to just let the child die because it might cost me too much money just to keep him alive. I’m glad I didn’t let him die and also managed to reach the extreme level of wealth at the same time.
Food was never a problem in the game. There are a multitude of problems that needed aid in the game. The first problem is that other people outside are constantly trying to take something from the farm (such as thieves, guerilla units or corrupt individuals.). Thankfully the game had a solution to it; a very expensive solution. For $800 dollars I can hire a representative that can help ward off those people. Though it doesn’t always work it did help. There is also the case of people in the family’s health constantly going down, and infection of deadly disease. The loss of health even accelerate the older the family member is; and medicine is very expensive so any form of medical aid would be very nice. Although I haven’t experienced it drought can also be a very big problem so disaster relief also would be a big help. Pretty often a crash in the national bank would cause me to make less money, so development aid would also be pretty helpful.
