I watch the film, telling myself this was one of the best movies of 2018, and then I come visit the ratings. Bumb! I really don't understand the reason how this movie is underrated and disliked so much. Even the box office is shocking.
Alright. Let's say not all the actors were the kind to use their fame here to increase the market , maybe a few symbols had been seen before and were repetitive from other movies, but you can't possibly deny the fact that the whole visuals and the CGI was gorgeously made. The sounding and music was fascinating as you could just connect to the sound and immediately interpret what's going on even if you missed a glance. The main idea was brand new, despite all the other scientific movies out there talking about screens and robots and automatic devices. The concept was really well made and creative as you could jump into an atmosphere that was an intelligent combination of mortality and humane acts from the past and technology and knowledge from the future.
However I'm not claiming this was a 100% masterpiece, for it still could have gotten much further and more thrilling both in visuals and the story. For example it didn't really need to take over an hour for Hester to talk about her origin. The objective of the city beyond the wall wasn't ever introduced or demonstrated. Shrike's death took too long and in the end of act two, we still had an hour to figure out what'll happen. The quantum light strike was inevitably animated that reminded me of Suicide Squad disaster.
I found the film all in all a refreshing act in the recent cinema, and I truly couldn't have imagined such a low rating until I googled it.
