I recently watched an interview with the Chief of Canadian First Nations. She presented the plight of the First Nations in a very negative light. She failed to mention the fact that unmarked graves were not found at every former residential school despite sophisticated searches. None were found at all in the province of Nova Scotia for example. Also did not mention the fact that some First Nations Reserves are very successful. Look at Membourtou Reserve in Eastern Nova Scotia near Sydney for example.
Perhaps the fact that they have a Hilton hotel also a World Trade and Convention Centre among other things may get your attention. Many First Nations across Canada are a vibrant part of Canadian Society. Undoubtedly there are issues in some of the more remote and isolated reserves but there are success stories.
