In my opinion the show doesn't have any intelligent characters that I can support. Offred always tries to act defiant and speak up against the Waterfords, even in public. It's like she wants to get punished, but nothing even comes from her defiance - she's just a petulant little child and never learns.
And for the show in general, it tries to leave small details as allisions, but they end up being heavy handed and the show explains what they mean anyway. Like the music box given to Offred for example, it would be a great allusion for the viewers to work out by themselves. Yet the show immediately explains Offred's perspective on what the music box represents.
The show is too slow paced, so it will have random scenes of objects and scenery that add nothing to telling the story. I think this is the most important aspect. I do appreciate a slow burner, but there must be a purpose to it, or else I feel I'm basically wasting my time as I watch the show. Like if I'm constantly skipping 5 seconds ahead, and can still understand the entire plot, that's a bad show for me.
