I had high-hopes for this show, mostly because it was supposed to resolve mysteries left unsolved in the Star Wars animation show Rebels. However, this show has proven to be a complete disaster on many levels.
Firstly, this show moves at a snail's pace. The characters take abnormally long pauses between sentences, making conversations unbearably boring. The script writing is poor, the characters' personalities are shallow and corny, and the show overall is bland and lifeless.
Secondly, let me give you some important history on Rebels and summarize the ending of Ashoka.
In the Star Wars show Rebels, Sabine and Ezra had a romantic relationship towards the end of the show. Tragically, to defeat the imperial mastermind Thrawn, Ezra sacrificed himself to banish Thrawn to a distant galaxy where he and Ezra would be stranded there forever. The plot of the show Ashoka was that a group of assorted villains, some witches, some Sith, strive to bring Thrawn back to begin the rebirth of the Empire. But Sabine also wanted to travel to the where Thrawn was banished to reunite with her long lost interest. I was quite exited because I wanted to see Sabine and Ezra be together again and make it work. As the show progressed, Sabine finally found Ezra and I as well as all other Star Wars fans were expecting a heartfelt and beautiful reunion. However, once she saw her love who had been lost for literally eight years, she basically said, "Hey. How's it going?" Reunion ruined. But that wasn't the only poorly executed scene. Basically, at the end of the show, Ezra escapes on Thrawn's star destroyer that was about to leave and everyone else would be stranded. Sabine was supposed to come with Ezra, go home, and be reunited. Instead, she stayed on the planet with Ashoka, only to be permanently stranded there as Thrawn escapes with Ezra. Thrawn went on to start the rebirth of the Empire, while Sabine and Ashoka lie stranded in a distant galaxy to be lost forever. Ezra never got together with Sabine, Thrawn defeated Ashoka, and that's the end.
