This is incredible television, a roller coaster of emotions and memories and a great soundtrack.
A devastatingly sad reflection of how gay men were treated in plain sight until relatively recently. The hospital scenes at the beginning are terrifying but things do slowly get better as the years roll on and hospices are set up and run by strong and devoted staff.
Behind all the individual stories is one of friendship, loyalty, love and living life to the max. The rising spectre of HIV and AIDS grows from the start and the friends rally round when their own families aren't there to do so.
