'Columbus sailed the ocean blue in fourteen-hundred-and-ninety-two, and in the self-same year, it’s true, Spain’s king and queen expelled the Jew.' Those first had me hooked, and I read this book twice through in one sitting. It's beautifully written, and this story will forever have a place on my bookshelf!
