I’m tired of the praises of ‘My Happy Marriage’ >:( Don’t get me wrong this is a beautifully made show that made me cry at some points. I haven’t read the Manga for this anime! But as someone who has watched ‘Violet Evergarden’ that was also a Manga, I say that ‘My Happy Marriage’ is a bit of a disappointment story and character development wise. I felt like ‘My Happy Marriage’ skipped over a lot of important parts of the plot like, Who are the Usuba? how did they become like this “Hidden clan” and why are the Kudo‘s so dangerous, and why is the Emperor so worried about the Usubas and Kudo’s?? Also How did the Emperor control the Grotesquerie? Also why was he so worried about the future!? Please give me answers!! Another thing I would like to talk about is that I felt the anime was slow I understand they were going for like a slice of life romance with some action like ‘Fruit baskets’, but it didn’t really work out since they didn’t have the the impact for it. Miyo during the whole anime felt dull she didn’t have much just felt like the plot would randomly give/ take Miyo’s confidence! Like Miyo I know you where condition to feel like you where nothing and you didn’t matter but you have a new support group with people who beloved you and constantly whete their for you!! Over all Miyo was the weakest character she felt Meh. I felt like the Anime was too scared to jump out and take their own creative liberties! ‘Violet Evergarden’ is based on a Manga yet takes creative liberties to give more character development to side characters and world building, they feel like believable characters! But for ‘My Happy Marriage’ just felt like a lot of characters didn’t really have a life outside of the house, I mean Kydo’s sister had more personality than most characters. Overall the Anime could have done better! With story and world building the writing felt flat at times, I do hope that they do better in the upcoming season (if they will even re new a new season.) the animation was beautiful just needs better writing!! give us strong characters!!
