I wanted to put this book down several times because it was difficult reading the story, much too close for today’s reality. We see so many parallels to the parts of the book that relates to the 1930s as Hitler and his fascism took over. The book begged me,as the reader, to examine whether I would do something different than the characters did. Has a piece of writing, this is a hugely effective effort. The story is a good one and kept my attention. The short chapters made it a quick read. I’m glad I read it and will be thinking about how this fiction, based on events, is mirrored in today’s world, and how I will respond.
