An absolutely wonderful detective series! Plenty of crime of all types, but also a human story about the detective and his family and the small villages in the story. Not your "plenty of violence, plenty of (faked) sex" which is the staple of of stories in the last 10 years.

This 4th book in the Flynn/Reilly series by Rosemary J Kind is an engrossing read, painting a vivid portrait of late-19th-century America. The story is heartbreaking and heartwarming, as the characters all come alive in their own right, and each is a unique story. All of that keeps the reader turning the pages to find the eventual solutions of the main plot as well as the several sub-plots. A 5-star, thumbs-up book for sure!

This story was a compelling read. I could not guess how the author was going to resolve the seemingly impossible, which kept me reading beyond my usual time-constrained reading times to find the solution. It is gritty, graphic, yet underlined with surprising love and care. And the ending, well, I won't do a spoiler, except to say it was unexpected!
