Captivating but god! the characters are annoying. An over-emotional reporter who’s passionate about … god knows what; a wino mother in law who suddenly acts suspicious without explanation and turns into an action hero within seconds; a politician who insists on keeping an American captive despite the huge costs for whatever reason; a husband who can’t understand why his “love” can’t get rid of withdrawal symptoms in his wife 😂. I’m done! And conflating a story about a rescue mission and American intervention overseas was a horrible idea. While the two do go hand in hand, focus should have been on one.

Full of unlikeable characters. And what's the point of shooting a monster only once just to start running away from it again? Who gives up the upper hand that easily when dealing with a threat to your life? There was a fire right there. Why not try to burn it at least? That girl put the entrails of a dead person on herself without breaking a sweat. But she sees the shoes of a dead person and vomits? GTFOH!

Wow wow wow wow wow!!!! A visual spectacle with creative storytelling and heart warming dialogue. The art got to me first. My first impression was that it was some sort of 3D rendered with faux 2D effects. Imagine my surprise when I learnt that it was, in fact, 2D enhanced with layers of shadow and lighting to give off depth. Then came the story. A retelling of the Santa myth with a creative and hilarious take on the elements of the Santa tale (check why people believe that Santa's sleigh flies). Then there was a scene where Santa reveals something to Jesper about his past. That dialogue had more emotion than a lot of live action movies we see nowadays!
