This story was mild on the horror until the last couple of chapters and then did more than make up for it. Nearly 300 pages of what felt almost like a memoir of a woman who has been impacted by domestic violence, mental illness, addiction, and how well she adjusted to living in a haunted house. Just when you think it's come to a sensible ending, wrong. The story wraps up better than anyone could have imagined. Honestly, it would have been 5 stars even without the 180° ending. It was great.
