This series bears no resemblance whatsoever to the Dickens novel. What presumption and arrogance to think they could take a great literary classic and rewrite it. They've even changed Pip's name to Pip Gargery when his name, being Philip Pirrip gave rise to his nickname in the first place. Did the writers even read the book? Full of gratuitous swearing and violence, this series is an inept appalling pile of rubbish. The genius of Charles Dickens was in creating clear images of life at that time through illustrative prose, larger than life characters and often humour. If this is what the writers come up with, then they all ought to sacked.

This programme was a fascinating and insightful illustration of the corruptive influence of power and money. Interesting that the only truly decent person there won! From a psychological stance, it showed how even the seemingly nicest people can become back stabbers within that competitive situation.

One of the worst films I've ever seen. Music didn't need to be there and was boring, and the characters all over acted. A truly terrible interpretation of a good story.
