Strange Darling.
The movie starts by telling you that it has six chapters, then starts with chapter 3. This is you first clue that the movie might not follow the traditional linear storytelling.
And it works. Think of the earlier chapters as flashbacks. We start with chapter 3, then 5. With these chapters, you know the current situation the protagonists are in, but not how they got there.
For that, you'll need chapters 1, 2 and 4 to fully understand their predicament.
The cinematography by Giovanni Ribisi is excellent. He is mostly known as an actor, and played the company head Selfridge in the movies Avatar and its sequel.
The movie starts a little slowly and builds progressively with suspense. The performance by the two lead actors is excellent, specially the leading lady played by Willa Fitzgerald, whom you may remember played Roscoe in the first season of REACHER on Amazon Prime.
In my opinion, she deserves consideration for an Oscar or Golden Globes nomination for best actress.
I recommend this movie, as long as you are in the right frame of mind. It is an excellent, well conceived and well executed film, that features good performances by all involved.
I give it 4 stars out of 5.
