As much as I love this game, it is not 5 star worthy. If all you enjoy is the nostalgic feeling of playing with friends from 2014, then this may get 4 stars or 5 stars. But if you care about a football game making sense and AI doing what it should at the right time, then stay far away from this game. It is the 2014 game remastered with updated rosters. By far the greatest change was the graphic improvements, but besides that you are still in 2014. It’s sad how lacking Ultimate Team is, coming from EA who has dominated the ultimate team space with FIFA and Madden. It will be unfair to not provide personal examples of how this game messes up due to lack of development.
Ex1. Crashing: This game crashes randomly at times. It will be during a mid and will restart back to system Home Screen and automatically start back up, but losing all in game progress.
Ex2. Lack of AI knowledge. At many times the AI seems to lack in understanding of what to do, which is strange as Madden Al has always had an AI that knew what to do at times. Here’s an example below of a personal experience.
While playing a Road to Glory as a running back, I am down 27-28 with 20 seconds left in the 4th quarter of the CFP semi finals. I ran the ball down to the opponent’s 20 yard line. We have timeouts left to be used, so the AI was set up perfectly to kick a game winning field goal. The game does as it should and pulls me from the game, as the starting running back. However the AI does not kick a field goal, it hands the ball off to my third string running back and gets stopped. Does not call a timeout and never attempts a field goal. It simply loses the game, rather than make an attempt that Madden 2005 AI could have done.
While I do have many examples of personal experiences, I do not want to sound like I’m ranting about this game. I do believe this game is getting a weird amount of boosted 5 star ratings for the quality it is.
